Prehistory Homework

 Introduction to Prehistory

What’s the difference between Prehistory and History?
The difference between Prehistory and History is that in the Prehistory the writting didn´t exist and in the History tha writting was invented.
What does Palaeolithic mean?
Paleo means old and lithic means stone.
Go to www.atapuerca.com and find out:
What is Atapuerca? Why is it important?
Atapuerca is a mountain range, it´s important because has become a compulsory reference point in the study of the human presence and evolution in Europe.Where is it? Sierra de Atapuerca is in the 'Bureba Corridor', a geographic passage linking the Ebro and Duero River basins, with the mountains of Sierra de la Demanda to the south and the foothills of the Cantabria Range to the north.
What can you find there?
We can a wide variety of flora and fauna species.
Write about the most important fact you think it is there.
A  painting that depicts a horse's head is on the wall opposite the mouth of Cueva del Portalón (Porch Cave). The first person to mention it in writing was Jesús Carballo in 1910. Ever since, this head has been a source of controversy, firstly because some interpreted the simple motif as a bear while others saw a horse. Tracings seem to dispel any doubt: they clearly show the head of an equid with several identifiable anatomical parts including the base of the neck, the jaw line, the mouth, the forehead line, ears and eye.

Thank you!

Christianity,Judaism and Islam

Islam
Followers of Islam are called Muslims, principals prophets are  Adán, Noé, Abraham, Moisés, Salomón y Jesús.
The sacred books of the Torah (the Old Testament for Christians), the Books of Solomon, the Gospels (New Testament)and theCorán.
Their god is Alá.This religion is monotheistic.
 Christianity
Christianity is a monotheistic religion.
Is based on the recognition of Jesus of Nazareth as its founder and central figure. His followers believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah (or Christ) prophesied in the Old Testament, who died for the redemption of the sins of mankind, and rose three days after his death.
Within its sacred texts and writings, he shares with Judaism the Tanakh, which is, together with the Septuagint Bible (Tanach oldest in its current form) the basis and source for the Old Testament of the different Bibles. For this reason it is considered an Abrahamic religion along with Judaism and Islam.
They belive in god such as a trinity: the father, the son, and the Holy spirit.
Judaism
Its practice is based on the teachings of the Torah, also called the Pentateuch, comprising, as its name suggests, five books. The Torah or Pentateuch, in turn, is one of the three books that comprise the Tanakh (or Old Testament, according to Christianity), which is attributed to divine inspiration.
The main feature of the Jewish faith is belief in a God, that would have created the universe and chosen the Jewish people to reveal the law contained in the Ten Commandments and the ritual prescriptions of the third and fourth books of the Torah.
Abraham, and Abraham is to the, Christian and Islamic, the first of the post-Flood patriarchs of Israel. For the Jewish Abraham  is the founder of the judaism.
Their sacred texts are part of the Torá and the Talmud.
  •  Jews, Christians and Muslims believe in the same God, but Muslims and Jews see God in strictly monotheistic terms, whereas most Christians believe in the mystery of the Trinity.

Charles darwin

He was born the 12 of February of 1809, he died the 19 of April of 1882. He was an English naturalist.
He established that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestry, and proposed the scientific theory that this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural selection. He published his theory with compelling evidence for evolution in his 1859 book On the Origin of Species.
His five-year voyage on HMS Beagle established him as an eminent geologist whose observations and theories supported Charles Lyell's uniformitarian ideas, and publication of his journal of the voyage made him famous as a popular author.
You cna find more information of Charles darwin here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Darwin.

So what´s the big deal?

This text talk aboult very serious changes that affect to things that surround us.

Average global temperature has increased over the past century.Even a small increase in temperature over a long time can change the climate. When the climate changes, there may be big changes in the things that people depend on.

-Climate change may affect people's health both directly and indirectly. Scientists suspect that, in many places, climate change will increase the number of very hot days that occur during the year. More hot days increases the possibility of heat related health problems.
-Climate change may alter the world's habitants and ecosystems, all living things are included in and rely on these places. Many of these places depend on a delicate balance of rainfall, temperature, and soil type. A rapid change in climate could upset this balance and seriously endanger many living things.

-Global warming may make the Earth warmer in cold places. People living in these places may have a chance to grow crops in new areas.
I think that the Global warming is a very serious thing and the people must learn to help to prevent this from getting worse more.
-Global warming may make the sea level become higher.Oceanfront property would be affected by flooding, and beach erosion could leave structures even more vulnerable to storm waves.

Homework: Climate

HOT CLIMATES ZONES
-Equatorial climate
We can find this climate near the equator, the sun shines over all the year and the temperature is high through the year( around 25º), the rainfall is heavy and falls uniformly in each month of the year,
the humidity is excessive.
We can find this climate in the areas of central America,The Amazon, the Congo basin, the Gulf of Guinea nad the southerneats of Asia.
                                         A jungle at the Amazons

-Tropical climate
The rainfalls are heavy in all months. the total rainfall is often more than 250 cm.There are seasonal differencesin monthly rainfall but , the temperatures that are about 27ºC mostly stay the same.
we can find this climates in the areas of Central and South America, Central and Southern Africa, south and southeast Asia and north and east of Australia.
We can find this jungle at Guatemala
-Desert climate
We can find this climate in low-latitud deserts and at southwestern United States and northern Mexico; Argentina;north Africa;south Africa and at the central part of Australia, the temperatures are approximately between 18º to 28º in both hemispheres.Winds are lights wich allows for the evaporation of moisture in the intense heat, they have a very dry heat, the deserts covert the 12% of Earth´s land surfaces.

This is the Gobi desert it is at Mongolia

TEMPERATE CLIMATE ZONE

-Oceanic climate zone

Is typically find along the west coasts at the middle latitud of some of the world´s continent this climate has cool summer and warm winters. It lacks a dry season, as precipitation is more evenly dispersed through the year.We can find it at much parts of Europe,at coastal northwestern North America, at portions of southern South America and southern Africa and at southeast Australia and New Zealand.

This is a beach at the southern -west of  England.

-Mediterranean climate
A Mediterranean climate is the climate typical of most of the lands in the Mediterranean Basin as part of Subtropical Climate.
We can find it in much of California, in parts of Western and South Australia , in southwestern South Africa, in isolated sections of Central Asia and in parts of central Chile.

This is at the Toscana ( Italy)

-Continental climate
Continental climate is a climate that is characterized by important annual variation in temperature due to the lack of significant bodies of water.Often winter temperature is cold enough to support a fixed period of snow each year, and relatively moderate precipitation occurring mostly in summer, although there are exceptions like the east coast areas of North America which show an even distribution of precipitation but dry continental climates also exist. Regions having a continental climate exist in portions of the Northern Hemisphere continents and also at higher elevations in other parts of the world.
Only a few areas in Iran, adjacent Turkey,Afghanistan,Pakistan, and Central Asia show a winter maximum in precipitation, and this typically melts in early spring.

This is at the North of Croatia.

COLD CLIMATES

- Polar Climates
Regions with a polar climate are characterized by a lack of warm summers (specifically, no month having an average temperature of 10 °C or higher). Regions with polar climate cover over 20% of the earth. The sun shines 24 hours in the summer, and barely ever shines at all in the winter. Polar climate results in treeless tundra, glaciers, or a permanent or semi-permanent layer of ice.On Earth, the only continent where the extreme polar climate is predominant is Antartica. All but a few isolated coastal areas on the island of Greenland also have the extreme polar climate. Coastal regions of Greenland that do not have permanent ice sheets have "only" the less extreme tundra climates, precipitation is low and usually apear in form of snow.

This is a photo of the antartic

This is a photo of the tundra at Greenland

-High mountain
This areas are above 2.450 meters of high.
Temperatures are very low. Precipitation is heavy. The precipitations are find in form of snow.

ARROYOMOLINOS

Arroyomolinos is located at the autonomous community of Madrid (Spain)

Madrid has frontiers with Segovia, Avila,Toledo, Guadalajara.
Arroyomolinos is at the southernwest of Madrid.

Arroyomolinos have frontiers with  , Moraleja del medio, Mostoles
The coordinates of Arroyomolinos are 40ºN 3º55"W.

Arroyomolinos have a mediterranean climate.

We have mediterranean climate because the summers are hot and dry and the winters are wet and cool.
In arroyomolinos we have busses, and people often go in cars and the population is around 16.207 hab. (2010).
Arroyomolinos don´t have any famous mountain that surround it, the nearests mountains are the Sistema Central mountains, the rives more nearest to Arroyomolinos is the Guadarrama river.
Arroyomolinos have acontinental landscape.

Arroyomolinos was founded during the Muslim invasion, later to be reconquered by King Alfonso VI of Castile in his advance toward the decisive conquest of Toledo (1085). By then, the place was known as the Arroyo Chozas.

This are some photos that I take when we went to the park that is next to the high school:

At the visit we can see the Navacerrada mountains, Gredos mountains, some meadows and Navalcarnero.
